Body Ornaments by Giancarlo Montebello

Maestro Giancarlo Montebello’s research focuses on the study of intrinsic characteristics of materials, such as steel and gold and the ability to stretch the possibilities that the materials offer. His works consist in wafer-thin elements that can be combined to form large voluminous body ornaments due their total weightlessness. We are presented with intricate perforations on the surface of the metal, creating pieces that resemble lace and go to form inventive patterns. The artist avails himself of highly technological methods of accomplishment, resulting in works that are unique in their beauty.
