The artist’s conceptual research focuses on man’s impulse to explore new territories, ideally represented as a wandering spiral in the meanders of the imagination: the paper boats, the constellations, the volcanic craters that on the canvas became metaphors of crossing beyond the two-dimensionality, take on a new plastic and multifaceted dimension in jewelry.
Past exhibitions and events at BABS Art Gallery
The collection created for BABS by Ugo Nespolo pays tribute to the playfulness of the italian artist: just as in his long career he never wanted to deny himself anything of the experimentation that goes through the art history of the twentieth century, so in the jewel Nespolo plays with materials, shapes and colors while maintaining the same carelessness for respecting the rules and the constant refusal of a dogmatic caging to free creation.
Chiara Dynys has always proved to be an eclectic artist, constantly searching for specific materials and different techniques to convey unique sensations, full of poetry and feelings. Her jewels are the synthesis of the meticulous work done over many years.
The opening exhibition presented for the very first time at BABS Art Gallery, curated by Ermanno Tedeschi.
BABS Art Gallery presents “Il Volo” collection by Antonio Paradiso, inspired by the migration of birds. In Paradiso’s jewels, the freedom’s gesture made by the pigeon’s spread wings is “caged” in the space of a hand or wrist.
Lightness becomes a dominant value in his work, as if the work were absorbing material instead of emanating it. Which is how Pinna’s characteristically stylized figures with long limbs, in bronze, lead or knotted rope, stretch out into space without invading or weighing it down.
