ALBA POLENGHI LISCA

Milano, 1939 – 2021

Alba Polenghi Lisca (1939–2021) was a prominent figure in the Italian contemporary goldsmith scene. Born in Milan, she studied at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts under the guidance of Achille Funi and Roland Hetner, also deepening her knowledge in ceramics and engraving.

In the 1960s, she began her career as a painter, participating in numerous group and solo exhibitions. In the 1980s, she abandoned painting to focus on drawing and jewelry creation, maintaining a strong connection to abstract imagery.

Her works are distinguished by the use of geometric principles, the “golden ratio,” and classical studies of proportions, which form the aesthetic vocabulary of her jewelry. Triangles, squares, pyramids, and their segmentations dominate her designs. The cut, the layering of matte and shiny surfaces, their contrast and interplay are central to her stylistic research.

Alba Polenghi Lisca collaborated with many prestigious companies, and her creations have been exhibited in important international shows. Her artistic production left a significant mark on the world of contemporary jewelry.
